Parag Risbud from Avalon Consulting presented his views on “Automation in Manufacturing – Improving Quality and Productivity while Sustaining Competitiveness” during the seminar hosted by AES in Pune. The seminar was attended by eminent experts who shared their views on reducing manufacturing/operational costs in the Automotive sector.

Girija Pande unveils “The Silk Road Re-discovered”

Singapore:

Girija Pande, Chairman Apex Avalon Consulting Pte. Ltd. unveiled the book – “The Silk Road Re-discovered” followed by a panel discussion at Singapore India Chamber of Commerce. This is the first book that analyses the growing corporate linkages between India and China. The book has been co-authored by Girija Pande, Anil K. Gupta (Michael Dingman Chair in Strategy and Globalization at The University of Maryland) and Haiyan Wang (Managing Partner, China India Institute)

CII Business Delegation to Norway and Sweden

Stockholm:

Abhimanyu Roy from Avalon Consulting was part of the CII Business Delegation to Norway and Sweden between 22-25 April 2014. The delegation participated in two events:

  • India-Norway B2B event held in Oslo on 22nd April (organised by Norway India Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise and CII)
  •  India Unlimited – a business and cultural event held between 23rd-25th April in Stockholm (organised by Indian Embassy in Sweden)
    Abhimanyu made a presentation on a study undertaken by Avalon Consulting on behalf of CII –“Accelerating Economic Engagement between India and Nordic Region”. The report was formally released at the above events.

The study highlights the immense potential for future growth in trade and investments between the two regions. It identifies specific challenges being faced by exporters and investors from both regions. It further highlightsthe priority products for increased trade between the two regions and priority sectors for increased collaboration / investments. Finally, it also presents an Engagement Plan with actions required by various stakeholders (industry and government) for realising the opportunity potential.

Parag Risbud from Avalon Consulting also presented the findings of the report at the CII Pune event held in April 2014.

15th Annual Chemical Weekly Business Outlook conference, Mumbai

Mumbai:

"In the last few years, organised retail in India has impacted the way consumers are buying their grocery products. Even though the share of organised retail in grocery may be in single digit percentages, the experience is changing shopping behaviour and expectations. This is forcing FMCG companies especially in the Home and Personal Care segment to change the way they are managing their product offering.

This has implications on the suppliers to this industry as well – requiring them to modify their business practices and adapt to the changing scenario. Avalon Consulting have identified seven influences that modern retail has on the Home and Personal Care segment, and the resulting implications on the ingredient suppliers to this industry. Suppliers would gain to take cognisance of these changes and take proactive measures to take advantage of the opportunities and get ahead of competition..."

CII-Avalon Consulting Study on “Accelerating Economic Engagement between India and Nordic Region”

New Delhi:

Avalon Consulting was CII’s knowledge partner for a study on promoting economic engagement between India and the Nordic region of Europe.

In 2012, CII had constituted a committee for engaging with Nordic countries – Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland. It was conceived as a forum for co-coordinating various activities to promote greater economic engagement between India & Nordics. The committee Chairman is Mr. Chandrasekhar Kakal, Sr. Vice President and Executive Council Member, Infosys Ltd. Avalon Consulting was mandated to conduct a study on ‘Accelerating Economic Engagement Between India & Nordic Region’.

The objective of this exercise was to study the key trends in trade & investment between India & Nordics and to identify activities and strategies which will help to increase overall economic engagement and co-operation between the two regions The report prepared by Avalon Consulting was formally released on 21st February 2014 at a conference on Promoting Economic Engagement between India and Central / Nordic Region of Europe. The report was released by Dr. EM Sudarsana Natchiappan, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Govt of India.

Various panel discussions were organised during this event focused on opportunities for Indian industry in the Nordic and Central European region. Abhimanyu Roy, Vice President Avalon Consulting participated in a discussion on Opportunities for Indian Industry in Nordic region Eminent dignitaries who attended the conference and participated in various panel discussions included: Ambassador, Delegation of EU to India; Head of Trade and Economic Affairs, Delegation of EU to India; Ambassadors of various Nordic countries to India; Ambassadors of various Central European countries to India; leading members from Indian industry etc.

India Trilateral Forum 7

Mumbai:

Avalon’s Girija Pande was one of the speakers at the event organised by the German Marshall Fund of the United States.

On November 8 and 9, the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF), in partnership with Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Aspen Institute India, hosted the seventh India Trilateral Forum in Mumbai, India. The Forum is an ongoing dialogue between European, American, and Indian policymakers and commentators on shared interests and common challenges.

Participants at the event included officials from the governments of the United States, India, Sweden, and France, as well as from the European External Action Service, as well as business leaders, media commentators, and academic experts from the United States, Europe, and India.

Sessions focused on India's 2014 national elections, India's economic and industrialization prospects, trade negotiations, democratic growth prospects in India and the West, India’s ‘Look East’ Policy and the strategic balance in Asia, the future of Afghanistan after 2014, and regional integration in South Asia.

Our Chairman, Girija Pande, discussed the economic outlook for China and India, the challenges of foreign investment in India, and the future of Sino-Indian economic and business relations.

ICICI Bank Seminar on Succession Planning and Professionalising Your Business

Avalon Consulting was ICICI Bank’s knowledge partner at a seminar held for SME CXOs, focusing on succession planning and managing profitable business growth in difficult times. Avalon Consulting’s Chairman, Raj Nair, was the keynote speaker in Mumbai whereas Avalon Partner Premchand C. was the lead speaker at Coimbatore.

Raj and Prem made interactive presentations on how to manage profitable business growth in uncertain times to an audience comprising of some of the cities’ largest SME business houses. They also engaged with the audience through a Q&A session that followed the presentation.

Avalon Consulting and OC&C Strategy Consultants Host Four Knowledge Sessions for Indian Business Leaders

Avalon Consulting and OC&C Strategy Consultants together hosted the Avalon-OC&C Business Summit 2013, a knowledge sharing initiative for Indian business leaders.

OC&C Strategy Consultants (www.occstrategy.com) is a global consulting firm with clients that include several Fortune 500 companies. OC&C has partnered with Avalon Consulting for its India operations.

As part the day long Summit, four knowledge sessions were organised – three interactive sector specific sessions for a small and select set of invitees were conducted in the morning, followed by a Panel Discussion on “How to Succeed in a Volatile World”, dinner and cocktails in the evening.

The audience for the day comprised of over 100 CXOs from large Indian and Multinational Companies. In addition to the Avalon leadership team from across India and Singapore, eight OC&C partners from their offices in Dusseldorf, Hamburg, London, Rotterdam, Warsaw and Buenos Aires were also part of the event.

Avalon Consulting organised a match making trade conference between Indian and Omani businessmen in collaboration with the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This event was a follow up of similar matchmaking events in Mumbai and Gurgaon in the last two years.
